Speaking about Beirut should also speaking about Zach Condon. The Virginia based singer-songwriter sucessfully released his third album with Beirut, August last year. Currently, Beirut is touring the world in support of The Rip Tide. At first, Beirut were just a solo project from Zach. After recruited some of his friends to came along, the band’s first performances were held in New York in May 2006, to support the release of their debut album, Gulag Orkestar. Gulag Orkestar itself recorded as a solo project.
The video above is taken from their latest album, The Rip Tide. The track titled Vagabond and Zach once again doing a good job on concepting the video with a full support by Sunset Television. The band’s playing in front of people at some party, many of them military-affiliated, gathers in a ballroom to dance mechanically and drink excessively. Beirut and their world-music indie-rock, cut out its World War II themes. And it’s in black and white, people. Enjoy.
